We wanted to make art for art’s sake instead of giving reasons for everything. We decided to return to the room that we used to share in our childhood and to dig up the old scrap, to make a homecoming project. We would make art the way children do things, handicrafts and play, following our intuition. The working process itself would guide us. In reality, however, it did not turn out that way. We ended up explaining and reflecting on ourselves in the “art context” all the time.

The exhibition includes two works. The first work “Chip ‘n’ Dale picnicking” is an installation based on the Chip ‘n’ Dale identity that we adopted during our first 20 years as twins. The other work is a painted 35mm film representing the landscape between two cities, Helsinki and Pori. The soundtrack of the film is based on our brother’s saxophone rehearsal in our family’s basement. Tapani Rinne and Verneri Lumi have made the sounds.

The exhibition has been supported by Suomen Kulttuurirahasto, Valtion kuvataidetoimikunta, AVEK, Genelec
