Comment III Helsinki / Koммeнтapий III Хeльcинки

Jätkä 2 8.5.-26.5.2013

Galleria Huuto Jätkäsaari will display a Finnish-Russian art exhibition called Comment III Helsinki. The works have been specifically designed for this gallery space. The artists involved in the exhibition are Elina Autio, Veikko Björk, Tiina Hallakorpi, Igor Monakhov, Kaarina Ormio, Kirsti Rautasalo, Evgenia Terentieva, Marja-Elina Uusitupa, Victoria Zorina and Vladimir Zorin as well as dancer Toni Keski-Liikala who will make his comment during the opening night.

Organized by the Cultural Association Lila, the aim of the Comment project is to comment on the environment and/or the previous year’s works. The project began in 2011 in the Republic of Karelia where the artists wanted to rescue the dying Tolstjakovo village with art. Last year the artists livened up the Arabia neighborhood by setting up artworks near the local community centers. This year the works will be displayed in gallery spaces, first at Galleria Huuto in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki, and in September at the Museum of Nonconformist Art in St. Petersburg.
