The spaces in the drawings are like tissues, opening and closing alternately. The lung-like appearance of the figures oozes disproportion and harmony. The drawings have been created as a continuum, one after another, absorbing the artist’s mental landscape. Every choice, touch and mark is visible in the ink drawings.
Eveliina Hämäläinen (b. 1984) earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2013. She works with painting and land art. Most recently, her works have been on display at the following exhibitions: Goodbye Kiss, Kulttuurikellari, Savonlinna, 2018; 035_id:1, Das Esszimmer, Bonn, 2018; Sublime and Repress, Enia Gallery, Athens, 2018; Pelastus & Rangaistus, Aine Art Museum, Tornio, 2018. Her works have also been seen in the dance performance Onnelliset at Alexander Theatre in Helsinki (2017) and in the stage production Circo Aereo & defunensemble: Concerto Planos at Pakkahuone in Tampere (2016). The artist’s works are included in the collections of the Finnish National Gallery and Kone Foundation.
