Sami Korkiakoski (born 1978 in Eskilstuna, Sweden) is an artist living and working in Vantaa, Finland.

The colour as a substance and the feel of the materiality create the elementary guidelines for Sami Korkiakoski’s intuitive working process. His latest works approach the secretive attributes of being a human – regarded by the angles of the sexual roles of human being. The atmosphere created by the colour and the expressive strokes bespeaks about a rather abstract idea on the issue of the existence of women and men.

In the Huuto-gallery, Korkiakoski invades the gallery space throughout the installation and the act of performance. His work ‘The Working Space’ is an installation. When the artist Korkiakoski enters the space – the entire work mutates into a performance. During the process – normally private now visible to the public – he will prepare new works for the exhibition held in the Gallery Jangva in two weeks time after this exhibition.

Riikka Mäkinen (born in 1976 in Turku, Finland)

She links her working process from illustrating to the conceptual by concerning issues like re-capturing the memories – like the way she plays it: random listing turned into a random visual narrative. Her work plays with the visual language from classical drawing until simplifying image close to a cartoon-like.

My son’s father’s mother gave me a present for christmas: a diary for five years. In every page, there are five units, with five lines in each. I did hate the idea of writing the diary. When I started the first five lines, I have been continued filling in the lines. A day is an unit of measurement for time. Every evening, for a few years time now, I have been writing down strange shortcuts about the issues that felt like worth remembering. At some day I have been concentrating perhaps retrieving the memory of an excellent lunch, writing down the recepe, or I have been catching up a dream – sometimes, desperately, I have tried to hunt a learning of the day – note to self.

Now my images present strange collection of synopsis, about the issues worth recollecting.
