My exhibition is based on a thematic idea, that as man preys on objects in the nature, he somehow ends up making an object of himself too. Having let this theme lead me, I have created creatures, ‘hybrids’. These creatures fascinate me because they carry in themselves a tension between human and bestial, between natural and unnatural. These creatures have appeared to me in the transitory state between waking and sleeping states. I have used this time several synthetic materials, such as synthetic rubber, plastic, silicon, nail varnish, acrylic mass. As a contrast to this I have worked with birch, which I feel is an exceptionally lively material. I do not want to give too precise definitions of my work. There’s something I want to say, though: I see that our human life, the everyday rush, is an attempt to break free of the skin that the nature has given for us. When we tame the nature, we tame the nature in us. But as we leave a mark on the nature, the nature leaves a mark on us too. This is the dialogue I have tried to captivate both in individual works and the entity.
