Curriculum Vitae
27.5.-19.6.2022

On Ascension Day 26 May 2022, Huuto is closed.

I was born 12,319 days ago. I don’t remember it, but it was summer, it was almost nine o’clock on a Saturday night and it was thundering behind the window.

I have a childhood memory of our bicycle trip to a dolphin river. I got to swim with the dolphins and ride on their backs. I also remember a trip to Australia. Apparently, my memories are not true. But what is true?

When I was four years old, I found out that someday I will die and there is nothing I can do to avoid it. I went to my room alone, closed the door and whispered: “When will it happen?”

In my dreams, I am at the Iguazu Falls 11,309 kilometers from home. No public transportation information is available between these places. After a 3,083-hour bus ride, I wake up and see the sun rising from Brazil. I google what I should do if I ran into a jaguar in the jungle. It says I have nothing to worry about.

Curriculum Vitae is a video installation about dreaming, the passing of time and flowing water. It is my alternative curriculum vitae without work and achievements. What is left when they are eliminated? Will I still be someone? The vapor of the Iguazu Falls on my face, sunsets on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, dreams that I cannot always distinguish from being awake. Sometimes I walk to the waterfront and let the waves take me. I forget all my passwords. I forget I am worried.

Since I was born, 1,868,715,532,800 cubic meters of water has flowed through the Iguazu Falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil. Everything I have done and have not done is included in those water masses. Water will keep flowing even if I don’t do anything. While sleeping, it is enough that I exist and breathe. Could it sometimes be enough when I am awake?

The exhibition content was filmed and recorded at the Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil as well as in Benin in West Africa.
