When Will the Day Break

When should you let go of what used to be? If you let go, do you have to give up the dreams? And will memories start to fade? When Will the Day Break is a documentary love film that travels on the borders of dreams, memories, hope and realism.

The film uses, for example, self-developed, partly hand-painted 16 mm black-and-white film and material that was screen-printed on 35 mm motion picture film. The film’s sound design was done by Juho Luukkainen and the actress in the dream sequences is Jenni Kitti.

Sanna Liljander is a filmmaker (BA, Aalto University’s ELO / documentary film) and visual artist (MA, Uniarts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts / time and space arts) who mainly focuses on making documentary films and moving image works.

Thank you
Juuso & Kaija

The film received a scriptwriting grant from the Finnish Film Foundation and AVEK and was made with a project grant from AVEK.
