“All-in-between” explores communication and the active nature of materials. Everything is material, everything has an effect and everything is constantly in motion. And what it feels like. I examine the theme in the middle of movement and space and express it through installations and sculpture. I examine my own materiality in relation to the surrounding materiality, observing the communication between my body and other actors. I try to identify the materiality of environments, spaces and movement and experience an interactive relationship. I try to communicate, focus properly, understand how others communicate.

The materials used in the exhibition include clay, plywood, steel, water, fabric, lavender and gravel. The works depict the movement and rhythm generated by communication, reminding us how materiality is having an influence and being influenced everywhere. The multisensory installations can be experienced, touched, listened to and looked at, so that each person can choose their own way of engaging in communication with the material.

In her works, Elisa Sakko (b. 1994) examines communication, experiences of connection and detachment and the movement between different materialities. Her approach is based on using pieces of old works as well as other found and received materials, which she then takes apart, puts together and rearranges. Her work is, in particular, guided by an interest in the active agency of materials. Elisa Sakko currently lives and works in Kemiönsaari. She earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Arts Academy of the Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2022 and is a member of the Turku-based artist organization Arte ry.
